Protension Composites

The company

Protension Composites was founded in 2007 as a spin-off company of the faculty of Aerospace Engineering of Delft University of Technology. Now, four years later, Protension is a respected technology partner of the university and the surrounding composites industry. Since august 2010 Protension Composites is located in a brand new building at the Technopolis Innovation Park in Delft.

Lucas van den Akker is an aerospace engineer and the founder of Protension Composites. He has wide experience in design and simulation of filament winding processes, and also in the actual CNC controlled production of preforms. With his thorough technological background and passion for composite engineering, he takes care of R&D, general- and project management.

Jack Wetzels M.Sc.

Jack Wetzels is an aerospace engineer as well. He graduated on a research on new fields of application of Protension preforming technology. In 2009, Jack joined Protension as commercial director. Next to his enthusiasm for composite product design and manufacturing, he holds an extra-curricular degree in branding and industrial design. As such, he is also concerned with strategic product development and corporate identity.
