applications
Protension preforming technology can be used for a wide variety of product geometries. Some of our processes are specifically developed for high speed production of rotational symmetric preforms. Some are designed from scratch to fit the exact specifications of a certain product geometry. In all cases our processes are based on highly accurate CNC technology.
The highly flexible robot production facility (ready summer 2011) will be used to efficiently design and test new processes for the next generation of composite products.
Double or highly curved composites
Double or highly curved composites are hard to produce using traditional lamination techniques. The fibre architecture of Protension preforms is produced in 3D, directly from the yarn. This way, all problems of producing curved parts with flat weaves or uni-directionals are eliminated.
Composite helmet shells
We co-develop one of our processes together with the motorcycle helmets industry. The high level of reproducibility and the possibility to use the preforms in the existing production facility are attractive features to helmet manufacturers. The exclusive use of continuous fibres and the absence of any segmentation in the laminate improve product performance at the same time. This technology seems promising for use in other composite helmet shells as well.
